A quirky, fun, magical read!
Now I'm a big fan of Ms. Bouchard's amazing doggie #womensfiction tales; her House Trained was one of my Top Books of 2017.
(And who can resist that adorable puppy-eyed cutie on the front cover!)
This is her first foray into fanciful chick-lit / romcom and the plot is sound and cute. A unique, doggie-based take on the classic Cinderella tale, I really enjoyed the premise! For every dog you meet, you'll find a possible soul mate - with the characteristics of the dogs! Compliments of your new, friendly neighborhood fairy godfather....God father, did you say???
Yup! (And with the Joysey (New Jersey) accent to prove it! 😉 )
It's a cute story and the dating doggie disasters are funny, as only Ms. Bouchard can provide. The main book boyfriend is handsome, caring and kind. If only we could all be so lucky! 😍
No major caveats.
However, two minor ones: 1) I think I would have preferred the fairy godmother as the main fairy in the tale (although there still is one in the plot, just not in the lead role), and 2) the teenage daughter of our main character was a little hard to read as she was very much...a teenager.... 😉
On the other hand, if you like light-hearted paranormal #chicklit / #romcoms like Caitlin McKenna, Carol Maloney Scott, and Whitney Dineen, and #doggie tales, you'll love Stray Magic! 😃
