Chick Lit Shop's Top #5Stars #Book Recommendations for 2018

Updated: Oct 21, 2018

This Year's Hottest, Best Book Recs which has us begging the authors for MORE!!! 😍😍😍

Welcome to the new and improved Chick Lit Shop! This new webpage is going to be home to all things Chick Lit! I've been a part-time Book Blogger for the almost past three years and it's great to have a home again!

“Of all the books on this list, I Highly Recommend November's book, Relatively Normal, as Book of the Year!  If you enjoyed this summer's mainstream #NewRelease hit, The Kiss Quotient (and reading about autistic characters), then check out, Ms. Dineen's delicate and sensitive handling of the topic, enrich[ing] your experience of this read.  #5Stars.  A+++ 2018 BOOK OF THE YEAR!” - Chick Lit Shop

Everybody seems to LOVE my End of the Year #BookReview. 😃 But this Year I decided to publish this post early so that you, my fellow readers, could treat yourselves to some AWESOME #Books this Holiday Season!!! 🎄🎅🎁🎄

Top Books I'm Highly Recommending this Year

January

Izzy by Tracie Banister

Start the Year off right (and chase away those winter blues) by enjoying the hilarious adventures of Izzy the former model in hot, sexy Miami, as she sets her eyes on a new prize: Husband-Hunting!  Will she find Mr. Right or Mr. All-Wrong?  Read and find out!  :)  #5Stars A+++  Book of the Year: 1st Runner-Up

February

TWO books tied for February, both dealing with life as a big singing star. Once in a Lifetime by Kathyrn K. Biel and When a Star Falls by Debut Author Rachael Eliker. Ms. Biel's book impressed me by creating 5 very distinct characters, with believable flaws and motivations. Imagine if the Spice Girls got together for a Reunion Tour 10 years later -- Yes, it's like that! 😊 #5Stars.

Ms. Eliker's book on the other hand, focused on one lucky, shy, talented singer, who got the break of a lifetime, and the cute, nerdy guy she once had a crush on, now back in her life and all grown-up into a handsome, rich, enterprising engineer. What floored me about this book is, even though it's about the music industry, it's a very clean read, that focuses more on the development of the characters and their relationship / courtship, and the heroine's dreams, temptations, and about finding your way in a new world, without letting go of your past, just because it's the past. A strong entry from a debut author; I'm excited about Book 2 coming out later this year! #4.5Stars

March

Two books tied for March as well. How to Be Loved by Stacey Wiedower is a one-click author for me. I have loved every single book of hers and this one was no different. Ms. Wiedower is one of the Queens of Chick Lit (right behind the Queen Bee herself, Tracie Banister (see January)). Her #RomComs are solid and deliver the right amount of laughter, high-jinks, and dreamy boy-next-door book boyfriends that I really would LOVE to meet!!! #5Stars.

Another author that I love from Ireland though, really "Bam!" 'ed her latest book, I'm Still Standing by Colleen Coleman. I have loved her previous books, but this one is one of her bests. If you loved Tracie Banister's foodie chick-lit, Mixing It Up or, just love Foodie / Food Competition shows like Top Chef, Emeril, or MasterChef, you'll thrill to this ultimate food competition challenge for the privilege of working for one of the world's premier chef's at his near-Michelin 5 star restaurant. You'll be rooting for this underdog heroine with a heart of gold who has to compete against her ex -- the one that broke her heart and got away! #5Stars.

April

Bridal Girl by Meredith Schorr. Again, like Tracie Banister and Stacey Wiedower, Ms. Schorr is a one-click author to me. Just like Ms. Wiedower, Ms. Schorr is so precise in her quality of craftsmanship in her books, clear off your entire schedule for the evening, because once you start one of her books, you have to read it straight through until you finish; her books are Just That Good!!! #5Stars.

May

Do you love Royal Weddings?  Then check out this amazing new read, A Royal Shade of Blue by Aven Ellis.  I'll admit, some books of hers are a win and some are a miss, but this book is truly her best yet!  Ms. Ellis truly hits it out of the park with this one!  You'll love the setting, you'll love the hero and heroine, and you'll love the personal Yoda-like character in the mix as well (aka the wise, old woman matchmaker / dream-helper / hip advice and fashionista-make over friendly meddler).  Don't miss this book!  #5Stars.  A+++  Book of the Year: 2nd Runner-Up.

June

Ah, beautiful Ellen the Bride by Diane Michaels.  Want to enjoy a wedding story?  Well, check out this third in an awesome series, of a wedding harp player (aka "harpist"), who is now planning her own wedding!  This delightful series is more than just wedding high-jinks; it's about a young woman trying to find her place in life, in her job, in her relationships, and in her family.  Read about the adventures of Ellen and her two friends / roommates as they balance life, love, and a love of music as a career!  :)  #5Stars A++

July

The never ending Chaos at Coconuts by Beth Carter.  Enjoy this fun, funny, and light-hearted summer read!  This book is a perfect sequel for Thursdays at Coconuts (Book 1) fans!  More time with your favorite characters, more time in their world with new drama and adventures.  Tornadoes, weddings, ex-drama, and a "fairy-godmother"-type socialite, make this a fun ride.  Note: You definitely need to read Book 1 first, and this book ends on a cliffhanger, so if you MUST know what happens next, wait a little while.  This book reads like a serial, so if you don't mind waiting in between, then pick it up TODAY!  :) #4.5Stars

August

Enjoy the last days of summer with this awesome new cozy mystery series!  Book 2: Man's Best Alibi by Tara Meyers hits the small-town cozy mystery feels with this charming mountain small town located next to a famous National Park range.  New vet Dr. Ember Burns (with the red hair to match! 😉) has lost her parents and is starting over in her childhood small town thanks to an inheritance and an available-to-purchase old vet clinic from a disgraced, retired, dead veterinarian.  Hmm, was his last case really a disgrace...or did someone have ulterior motives?  With Dr. Burns on the case, there's only one way to find out!  #5Stars A++

September

Go On, Girl by Hilary Grossman

Get ready to go Back to School with this knowing look into elite suburbia social cliques...and that's just the mommies!  Hilary Grossman nails it again, with just the right blend of candor, self-reflection, a dash of humor and a bit of (mild) spice.  The mommy wars are back! As usual, a #5Stars A+++ flawless Hilary Grossman book.

October

Just for Joy by D. Pichardo-Johansson

This unusual read is a cross between a chick-lit / romcom / contemporary and a crime / mystery. Think of the illusive, dark Illuminati from Tomb Raider and you'll understand the slightly creepy vibe of this mystery / contemporary read. Dr. Picardo-Johanssen understands the medical profession well, and blends a very realistic story of a brainy single hospice physician and the disgraced, yet broodily charming, CIA detective divorced dad assigned to her mystery patient death case. #4.75Stars

November

The AMAZING Relatively Normal by Whitney Dineen.  This hilarious, over-the-top, zany, unique read from Ms. Dineen is out-of-this-world hilarious and uproaringly funny!!!  If you want to read about the world's most disastrously funny Thanksgiving trip home, to take your mind off (or to commiserate your own), then look no further than this book.  Of all the books on this list, I Highly Recommend this as Book of the Year.  P.S.: If you enjoyed this summer's mainstream #NewRelease, The Kiss Quotient (I.e., reading about autistic characters), then check this book out, as Ms. Dineen's sensitivity to the topic and delicate handling of it, enriches the experience of this read.  #5Stars.  A+++ 2018 BOOK OF THE YEAR!

December

Although the majority of books on this list are #NewReleases for 2018, since December is not yet upon us, I will pick a book from last year that I just recently re-read to get me in the mood for this Holiday Season. It's not the cheeriest book like November's pick, this one is quiet and reflective. But again, in dealing with a familial autistic character, love is lost and found, life and career decisions are made, and love's place amongst the obligations and responsibilities is a nice end to this year's 2018 Top Book Recommendations #5Stars #reads.

Happy Reading! 😍❤📚🎄🎅🎁🎄
